Tang Zhi and his apprentices, Sun Wukong and Zhu Yinen, set up a stall outside with a banner reading “Automatic Hairstyling Machine.”
They were promoting Tang Zhi’s latest invention.
Sun Wukong, fanning himself vigorously, said, “It’s really hot today.”
Zhu Yinen, also fanning himself, added, “The crowd is even hotter. On such a hot day with so many people, our master doesn’t need to come out. We can handle it ourselves.”
“Handle it? Do you even understand how it works? Although we are our master’s apprentices, we know nothing about this high-tech stuff,” Sun Wukong retorted.
At that moment, a woman asked, “Automatic hairstyling machine? Sounds cool, but won’t it cut my ears or scalp?”
Tang Zhi assured her, “Don’t worry about that. This machine has a protective layer that wraps around your ears and scalp. The protective layer is metal, very hard and safe.”
The onlookers nodded in agreement.
“Safety aside, what if the hairstyle turns out ugly?” someone else questioned.
“We have dozens of built-in hairstyles to choose from. It can cut or perm your hair. You can even customize it. If you see a hairstyle you like on the street, just take a photo and input it into the machine, and it can replicate it for you,” Tang Zhi explained.
The crowd was impressed. “It sounds very tempting, but Dr. Tang, you need to demonstrate it.”
“Of course, does anyone want to try it?” Tang Zhi offered.
No one volunteered at first; nobody wanted to be a guinea pig.
Just then, a voice said, “I’ll try it!”
Everyone turned to see female scientist Chang Zai.
She smiled and said, “I’m too lazy to manage my hair, and this machine sounds perfect for me. I was really moved by your explanation. Dr. Tang, is it free?”
Before Tang Zhi could respond, Zhu Yinen jumped in, “Of course it’s free.”
He pulled a chair over and courteously offered it to her.
Chang Zai chose an Audrey Hepburn hairstyle.
After some simple operations by Tang Zhi, the machine started working, and in the blink of an eye, it was done.
Everyone looked at Chang Zai again, now exuding a blend of charm and heroism.
The crowd was amazed.
“I’ll buy one.”
“I’ll buy a hundred.”
…
“I’ll buy a thousand.”
Sun Wukong and Zhu Yinen were busy taking orders. Hearing this, they said, “We don’t have a thousand in stock; it will have to be ordered.”
“Then order it.”
“I’ll order ten thousand.”
Everyone looked and saw it was Princess Xiangxiang of the Women’s Kingdom.
“Why do you need so many?”
“Are you kidding? Our Women’s Kingdom is full of women, and there are quite a few in the palace alone. Besides, I have to support Dr. Tang’s new invention,” Princess Xiangxiang replied.
